Vitamin K-2 (as Menaquinone)
K-2 is found in animal foods and fermented foods, as two main sub- types: menaquinone (MK)-4 and MK-7. Wide variety of functions in the body, including benefits to bone and heart health and protection against blood vessel damage. Adequate Vitamin D is necessary for calcium absorption, but adequate vitamin K is needed to help direct the calcium to be incorporated into bone tissue and minimize calcium deposits in soft tissues such as our blood vessels and kidneys. Hence they work synergistically and can be taken together.*
