Why You'll Love It

As the number one nutrient deficiency, Vitamin D is involved in over 2 body processes

Every capsule contains 125 mcg (5, IU) of the active form of Vitamin D3, equivalent to the amount found in over 3 glasses of milk

Complexed with Vitamin K2, which is reuired for optimal vitamin D function in the body and support of blood vessels

Contains no lactose, which is often an undisclosed ingredient in Vitamin D supplements

Half of the world is estimated to be deficient in Vitamin D, a pro-hormone that is required for optimal metabolic health, immunity, mood, blood sugar control, heart health and more. Knowing that food sources are ineffective at optimizing blood levels, this lactose-free capsule provides only the most bioactive cholecalciferol Vitamin D3 form, paired with Vitamin K2 to help protect the blood vessels.

Benefit

Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol)

Maintaining optimal Vitamin D status is critical for overall health, and proper bone formation, immune function, and cardiovascular health. However, a large portion of North Americans may be deficient in Vitamin D.

Vitamin K-2 (as Menaquinone)

K-2 is found in animal foods and fermented foods, as two main sub- types: menaquinone (MK)-4 and MK-7. Wide variety of functions in the body, including benefits to bone and heart health and protection against blood vessel damage. Adequate Vitamin D is necessary for calcium absorption, but adequate vitamin K is needed to help direct the calcium to be incorporated into bone tissue and minimize calcium deposits in soft tissues such as our blood vessels and kidneys. Hence they work synergistically and can be taken together.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much Vitamin D should I supplement with?

Evidence suggests the current RDA for vitamin D is not high enough to support optimal vitamin D levels in many individuals. One capsule per day (5000 IU of vitamin D) is likely safe for most people but LTH encourages you to have your vitamin D levels check with blood tests regularly (at least annually) to confirm the right dose for you individually.

Is there a risk of consuming too much Vitamin D with your supplement?

There may be some risk, which is why LTH encourages you to have your vitamin D levels check with blood tests regularly (at least annually) to confirm the right dose for you individually. Some experts suggest not exceeding 10,000 IU per day without testing levels.

If I am taking your supplement, do I still need sun exposure? What about food sources of Vitamin D?

Yes, we still recommend direct sun exposure for 15-20 minutes daily to optimize Vitamin D levels in your body while still avoiding sun burn or excessive exposure. Foods high in Vitamin D are generally nutrient dense with other nutrients, such as seafood, organ meats, and mushrooms. Many other foods are fortified with Vitamin D, but not at sufficient levels to meet the higher vitamin D intakes recommended.

Does Vitamin D need to be processed in our bodies to be active?

Yes, the Vitamin D we synthesize internally from sun exposure must be converted (hydroxylated) to be biologically active to cholecalciferol (Vit. D3). This supplement contains the active, hydroxylated form.

Are there any interactions with Vitamin K?

Yes, vitamin K impacts blood clotting, so if you are taking any prescription drugs such as blood thinners Warfarin or Coumadin, consult with your medical doctor before supplementing with vitamin K.
